City of Seattle - City Green Building
Jen worked in the City of Seattle's City Green Building program under the Department of Planning and Development to begin evaluating the success of Priority Green Expedited, an accelerated permitting process to incentivize and increase the number of sustainable buildings in the city. The evaluation will help to target areas where green building practices are minimal and assist in educating developers on incentives provided by the city. Additionally, she developed six case studies to showcase Seattle's Green Factor program, a mandatory landscaping requirement for commercial and multifamily new construction projects. This code requirement helps to manage stormwater in the urban environment, as well as provide more green space and create an aesthetically pleasing landscape. Lastly, she was involved in benchmarking city-wide initiatives across the country and internationally to address climate change adaptation efforts to help create recommendations for the City of Seattle for their upcoming development of a Climate Adaptation Plan.
