City of Ypsilanti

This internship dealt mainly with managing an urban forestry grant that the City of Ypsilanti previously received.  The grant included funds for a City-wide street and park tree inventory, canopy cover analysis, and urban forestry plan.  The grant also provided funds for the establishment of an urban tree nursery that would be used to grow stock to replenish street and park trees throughout the City.  Lindsay's primary responsibility consisted of researching nursery production and proposing establishment and maintenance options for the City's nursery.  She was responsible for designing the layout of the nursery, which would be established the following spring.  Lindsay also was responsible for working on other aspects of the grant, which included writing a request for proposals, interviewing firms that responded to the proposals, and creating community resources on urban forestry.
