Global Alliance of Artists

Catherine Game worked on a number of programs and activities throughout the summer with the Global Alliance of Artists

These programs and activities fall into the four primary categories described below:  1) Art and Nature í¢â‚¬“ Throughout the summer, Catherine assisted in the implementation of two Art and Nature Programs (one at Millennium Park and the other at the Garfield Park Conservatory).  In addition, Catherine attended collaboration meetings with other environmental organizations through Chicago Wilderness (an umbrella organization for Chicago environmental organizations) regarding the use of art in nature programs.   2) GAA Fundraising and Grant Writing í¢â‚¬“ Throughout the summer, Catherine also wrote various grants and organized fundraising ideas for the Art and Nature Program and GAA as a whole.  Catherine wrote grant applications or letters of inquiry to a total of fifteen foundations and corporations to raise funds for GAA programming and administrative needs.  3) GAA Coalition Building í¢â‚¬“ Catherine also research and created a database of over 60 international artists who are dedicated to environmental or human rights.  The database will be used for GAA membership recruitment as they expand and build their artist members.  4) Urban Arts and Environments Forum í¢â‚¬“ GAA suggested Catherine develop a project of her own to work on throughout the summer.  As her knowledge of environmental organizations and artists in Chicago grew, Catherine realized that these two groups could be connected in more collaborative ways.  GAA agreed that this need could be addressed through the Urban Arts and Environments Forum í¢â‚¬“ essentially an online forum where environmental organizations can post opportunities for artists to get involved in their projects.  Catherine developed the framework for the site and she continues to recruit members to join the forum.
