Huron River Watershed Council
| Josh developed a report to the DEQ about barriers to green infrastructure (GI) (for stormwater management) in Washtenaw County, MI. He conducted inverviews with local and county officials to get their perspective on GI and to understand their process of implementing it. He then conducted background research into local ordinances and county codes and synthesized findings into a report that included solutions to the barriers. In addition, he also helped initiate a watershed management plan for an impaired creekshed, including a schedule of water quality monitoring. Josh learned a great deal about how local and state governments work and how environmental initiatives are accomplished. He also learned where to find information, how to organize information, and gained confidence in my understanding of watershed management and in his research abilities. |
