Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum

Jen Horton worked at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens (MBG) for the summer. Her internship was separated into two parts. The first half of her internship, Jen worked on revitalizing the Gaffield Children's Garden. This included general care (including water, planting, harvesting, etc.) along with design and installation of new exhibits within the Gaffield Children's Garden. The second component of her internship was working to teach environmental education programs to children of all ages. Jen also created new environmental education programs for the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. She also helped create an improved "toolbox" of resources for any volunteers, docents, or interns who teach children's programs at the MBG.
