Street Parks are community managed gardens on publically owned land (commonly found on vacant land owned by San Francisco Department of Public Works) and include public stairways and public right of way, medians, and sidewalks.  These community gardens are common, her work entailed documenting over 65 active community sites.  The site surveys conducted at each garden site was meant to discover the environmental benefits associated with these gardens.  Environmmental benefits of Street Parks included: assisting in stormwater management, habitat creation, biodiversity, and localized food production.  These sites were found throughout the city in San Francisco.    This project assisted Allison in understanding how to manage, organize, and analyze a large site and data set. Furthermore Allison wrote a summary including recommendations and results from her research.  Allison has learned how to create maps and visual representations of her data so that the report was professional and visually stimulating for readers.    Allison was also charged with creating recommended plant lists to assist community groups with plant choice.
