US Fish & Wildlife Serviceí¢â‚¬â„¢s Division of International Conservation

Angela Michalek spent the 2010 summer in Washington, DC, interning for the US Fish & Wildlife Serviceí¢â‚¬â„¢s Division of International Conservation í¢â‚¬“ Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) branch. Her primary focus was developing GIS maps to inform funding decisions and communicate LAC branch initiatives.  However, she had the opportunity to review grants and develop additional outreach resources.  She found that Washington was a great place to network with a variety of organizations, public, private, or non-profit.  She was able to build upon her Spanish language skills and the internship gave her renewed inspiration to pursue a career in international conservation and capacity-building.
