Maria Whittaker worked at an organic farming cooperative in Havana, Cuba and was trained and educated in everything necessary to manage an organic farm and grow organic food on a medium scale. 

She learned seed collection, preparation and starting.  Biofungicide preparation and treatment of seeds. Cultivation and weeding, bed preparation, raised bed preparation.  Companion planting, alleopathic strategies.  Worm humus preparation amd management.  Biopesticide and biocontrol manufacture and use.  Vegetable and fruit preparation for sales and marketing techniques.  Healthy preservation methods.  Irrigation management.
