Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute
Reporting to the Provost, the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute is a collaborative partnership of nine schools and colleges at the University of Michigan (U-M), including the School of Natural Resources and Environment. The Graham Institute fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration to create and disseminate knowledge, and offer solutions related to complex environmental sustainability issues. Specifically, the Institute:
- Brings together diverse collections of researchers and stakeholders to develop science-based assessments that are intended to inform and assist policymakers in the decision-making process.
- Creates and supports interdisciplinary educational programs that explore the complexities of environmental sustainability and emphasize the inter-relationships between ecological systems.
- Develops outreach programs that educate external communities and constituents on how to economically and effectively achieve environmental sustainability.
- Leverages and promotes existing U-M research, education, outreach and operational efforts related to environmental sustainability.
The goals of the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute are to:
- Advance the U-M's multidisciplinary research and education efforts related to environmental sustainability
- Position the U-M as a global academic leader in the field of environmental sustainability
- Make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of environmental sustainability on a global scale.
