HIF Foreign Scholars Fellowship up to 300,000 Yen/month

Travel Grant:

  • An HIF Fellow can receive all or part of economy class transportation expenses for travel to and from Japan. The travel subsidy for round-trip travel is Â¥300,000 maximum (or up to Â¥150,000 for one way travel). To receive the inbound travel subsidy, the researcher must be living outside Japan; to receive the outbound subsidy a researcher must leave Japan within 30 days of completion of the research program.
  • An HIF Fellow may receive assistance in his/her research from the research advisor, participate in lectures and seminars, and use other facilities of Hosei University.
  • An HIF Fellow will be provided with shared office space, PC, and a Hosei University network ID.

Housing:

Hosei University will provide, upon request, a furnished apartment. However, the rent (approximately ¥100,000 per month) must be borne by the Fellow. (Note that rental expenses are subject to change)

Payment is made directly to the recipients in two installments. The first installment is presented at the AGU Fall Meeting. The second installment is given in June upon receipt by the Hydrology Section President of a brief progress report.

Howard Weaver and Bert Szabo Academic Scholarships $1,000 plus non-monetary awards

Part of funding is for attendance at the NAI Region 4 Regional Interpreter's Workshop.

HSA Research Grant $5,000

Non-allowable costs include: indirect costs, purchase of equipment, tuition, textbooks, conference attendance, private garden development, or travel. Funding is for a one-year period of time.

Hudson River Graduate Fellowships Stipend up to $15,000 (PhD); up to $11,000 (MS)

The student's home university will be expected to be the primary source of support for materials and expenses required to do the thesis research, and will also be expected to cover any indirect costs associated with the project. The award is conditional upon a full tuition waiver or reimbursement by the University.

The Foundation will not accept applications for extensions of existing fellowships.

Humane Studies Fellowships up to $15,000

Fellowships take into account the tuition at the recipient’s institution and any other funds received by the recipient.
Full scholarships will not be awarded to students who will receive full-tuition scholarships or stipends from other sources, although these students may be considered for partial awards.

The KCP Initiative - Future Faculty Fellowship shall Revert to a Loan subject to repayment to the State of Michigan if:

  • good academic standing is not maintained.
  • the degree is not attained within the time frame above after the beginning of the award period.
  • the fellow does not pursue an academic or administrative career as stated under "Conditions" above.
  • the fellow does not remain in an academic or administrative career for a three year period (amount may be prorated accordingly).
