Any ornithological research, to be used for equipment, supplies, travel, living expenses. WOS does not pay overhead or other indirect costs over and above the award amount.

Lewis and Clark Fund for Exploration and Field Research $5,000

Amounts will depend on travel costs, but will ordinarily be in the range of several hundred dollars up to about $5,000. Grants are payable to the individual applicant. Lewis and Clark Fund grants are taxable income, but the Society is not required to report payments. It is recommended that grant recipients discuss their reporting obligations with their tax advisors.

New York Senate Fellowships $32,000

All Senate fellowships are on-site in Albany, Capital City of New York. Class work and outside employment are prohibited during the full time fellowship. Housing in Albany is the responsibility of the Fellow.

Biweekly installments prorated from the first day to the last day of enrollment.

Eco-Challenge Grant Up to $10,000

All Grants must be used in connection with initiating and making significant progress towards completing the Eco-Program as set forth in its proposal. Student Grant recipients may be required to provide written or oral status reports, including budget reports and receipts to Program Sponsor to evidence appropriate use of the Grant. Student Grant recipients may additionally be asked to capture and document their work once monthly using video and or camera images and to provide these images to the Program Sponsor and/or Program Administrator upon request. Failure of any Student Grant recipient to provide Program Sponsor and/or Program Administrator with Eco-Program status updates as requested may result in suspension or termination of Grant disbursements, in Program Sponsor’s sole discretion.

African Initiative Grants and Fellowship Program up to $10,000

African Initiative Fellowships cannot be used to support RA's (with tuition waivers).

Dissertation Completion Fellowships $25,000 stipend; up to $3,000 for research; and university tuition/fees up to $5,000

ACLS does not fund creative work (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, work that deals purely with translation (with the exception of Luce/ACLS Translation Grants in East and Southeast Asian Archaeology and Early History), or pedagogical projects.

HIF Foreign Scholars Fellowship up to 300,000 Yen/month

Travel Grant:

  • An HIF Fellow can receive all or part of economy class transportation expenses for travel to and from Japan. The travel subsidy for round-trip travel is Â¥300,000 maximum (or up to Â¥150,000 for one way travel). To receive the inbound travel subsidy, the researcher must be living outside Japan; to receive the outbound subsidy a researcher must leave Japan within 30 days of completion of the research program.
  • An HIF Fellow may receive assistance in his/her research from the research advisor, participate in lectures and seminars, and use other facilities of Hosei University.
  • An HIF Fellow will be provided with shared office space, PC, and a Hosei University network ID.

Housing:

Hosei University will provide, upon request, a furnished apartment. However, the rent (approximately ¥100,000 per month) must be borne by the Fellow. (Note that rental expenses are subject to change)

What is excluded or highly unlikely to be funded

 

- local projects that are requesting funds for surveys, habitat management or local reintroductions that will not have any wider national benefits. If however a study of the above nature is trialling new methodologies or techniques that will have potentially wider applications then it will be eligible.

- projects that are part of an undergraduate or Masters course of study

student fees for any level of course or living costs

 

- core salary or administrative costs of an organisation

- work on an alien species to a country unless it is likely to result in benefit to a native species

John Z. Duling Grant Program Maximum of $10,000

Projects are expected to be completed within one to three years. Grant award amounts will vary depending on the adjudged value of the project relative to the needs of the arboriculture community. Awards are limited to a maximum of $10,000 and no project will receive more than one award from this program. Please note that funds cannot be used to pay for overhead expenses or student tuition and fees.

Congressional Fellows on Women and Public Policy Stipend of approximately $1,450 per month, $500 for purchase of insurance; up to $1,500 for tuition

Must work at least 40 hours per week. Reimbursment covers the cost of three hours tuition at home institutions (books and other non-tuition charges are NOT covered).

Mazamas Graduate Student Research Grant $1,500

 

 

 

1. Funds must be spent only on allowable costs.

2. The grantee will submit brief annual progress reports during the performance period.

3. Upon completion, and no later than three years following awarding of the grant, the grantee will submit a final report.

4. Mazama support will be acknowledged in all publications resulting from the grant, but club endorsement of results and conclusions will not be implied.

5. Equipment exceeding $100.00 becomes the property of the sponsoring institution, usually a university.

Student Equipment Grants Non-monetary use of equipment; $1,300 travel funds for conference presentation

Grantee must recognize CODAR inside of any presentation or publication that includes RiverSonde data. Grants are limited to equipment use inside of the United States. Future grant programs may be offered for other regions.Data collected during grant program will be considered joint property of grantee and CODAR. CODAR will be allowed to use data for marketing, product engineering or other purposes.

Spring award disbursement will be made dependent upon retention of a 3.0 or higher grade point average (GPA) and official verification of a full-time course load.

Master's Thesis Research Grant up to $500

Fundable research must be cartographic in nature. Cartography must be the central focus of the research and not merely a tool used in support of other research. Funding will be awarded for travel that is related to the research, such as field work or data collection; this grant does not provide funding for travel to conferences.

Settle-in-allowance and air tickets are, however, not provided for Fellows already residing in Japan before the commencement of the fellowship.

Funds may be applied to studies overseas provided that the study is a condition of the recipient's degree plan and that payment continues to be made to the accredited U.S. college or university.

After the scholarship funds have been submitted to the college or university of the student's choice, it cannot be transferred to another college or university.

NOAA Fisheries/Sea Grant Fellowship Program $38,500 per year

16 2/3 percent ($6,417) of funds must be matched by the institution of higher education as the required 50 percent match of NSGO funds. Allocation of matching funds must be specified in the budget and may consist of up to one/half month's salary for the faculty advisor, waived tuition, equipment and supplies, and any other costs typically used as matching funds.

 The salary does not include tuition or health benefits for this period. Graduate students will be required to fulfill their responsibilities to the satisfaction of their faculty mentor; specific objectives and duties should be agreed upon prior to the period of Spring/Summer employment.

    Gilbert F. White Postdoctoral Fellowship Program Based on current salary plus $1,000 for moving or living expenses.
    Fellows receive an annual stipend based upon their current salary and also receive research support, office facilities at RFF, and an allowance of up to $1,000 for moving or living expenses. This stipend may be supplemented by other sources if the supplement does not divert the fellow from his or her research. Typically, visiting fellows have sabbatical support from their home institutions. Fellowships do not provide medical insurance or other RFF fringe benefits. Neither Social Security nor tax payments are deducted from the stipend.

    Graduate Seminar on Global Transformations $4,500
    Students must commit to participating in the seminar for three terms, and will be expected to make a presentation to the group following their research trip, and to discuss methodology, challenges, and results with seminar participants. A three‐page report on findings must be submitted to CICS within six weeks of return from the research trip. This report may be used in CICS publications.
