National Estuarine Research Reserve Graduate Research Fellowship $20,000, plus matching funds from home institution.

The applicant may request funds under any of the following categories as long as the costs are reasonable and necessary to perform research: personnel, fringe benefits, travel, equipment, supplies, contractual, construction, other, and indirect.

The amount of federal funds requested must be matched by the student's eligible institution by at least 30% of the total project cost. Cash or in-kind contributions directly benefiting the research project may be used to satisfy the matching requirements. Waived indirect costs may also be used as match. Funds from other federal agencies and reserve staff salaries supported by federal funds may not be used as match.

Jennings Randolph Program for International Peace Dissertation Fellowships $20,000

Peace Scholar awards may not be deferred. They generally may not be combined with any other major award or fellowship except in special circumstances and with the written approval of the Institute.

Dissertation Fellowship $20,000

The AAUW Educational Foundation American Fellowship stipend must be larger than any other single fellowship or grant received during the year and must be acknowledged as the major award. Acceptance of any concurrent funds of a lesser amount than the Foundation award requires prior approval of the Foundation.
Fellowships DO NOT fund:
Research Assistants, laboratory supplies & equipment, publication costs, tuition for additional coursework, repayment of loans or other personal obligations, extended field research.

If an award recipient withdraws from the educational institution for which the award was granted, the award will be cancelled and the unspent portion, if any, will be returned to the Foundation. Awards are subject to state and federal income tax guidelines.

If a recipient chooses to take a course or series of courses at a tax exempt, accredited educational institution other than the one to which she was originally attending, or if she wishes to transfer to another tax exempt educational institution, the Otis M. Smith Scholarship Program Award will not be forfeited if the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is notified in advance of such transfer to an eligible institution.

Career Development Grant $2,000-$12,000

Career Development Grants are NOT available for: previous expenditures, deficits, or repayment of loans;  salaries or honoraria;  purchase of equipment;  insurance: shelter, life, medical/health, or automobile; attendance at conferences or seminars;  professional dues or periodical fees;  tuition for dependent’s education;  travel expenses such as airfare or train fare;  moving expenses; or shelter.

Grants provide support for course work beyond a bachelor's degree, including a master's degree, second bachelor's degree, or specialized training in technical or professional fields. Funds are available for distance learning. Course work must be taken at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States, or at a technical school that is fully licensed or accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. Funds are not available for PhD-level work.

Byron Hanke Fellowship $2,000 - $4,000

Stipends and payments come from the Foundation for Community Association Research and are sent to recipients in three equal payments.

  • First: upon acceptance of fellowship & certification of enrolled in appropriate program.
  • Second: at the beginning of the second term upon confirmation of satisfactory progress. Must be used for books, tuition, or other expenses for graduate education.
  • Third: paid upon completion of the project and provision of a copy of the final project to the Foundation.

The first comes upon acceptance of the fellowship and his or her academic institution's certification that the student is both currently enrolled in the appropriate graduate program, and is authorized to accept a Hanke Fellowship.

The second installment of the stipend will be paid at the beginning of the second academic term following the first payment, upon confirmation of satisfactory progress by the Hanke Fellow's academic or project advisor. The funds must be used for tuition, books, or other expenses of the Fellow's graduate education, as documented by receipts submitted to the Foundation.

The final installment of the stipend will be paid upon completion of the project. The Hanke Fellow will also be obligated to provide to the Foundation a copy of the final project, in accordance with the Fellow's application. The Foundation may publish the project if it is deemed appropriate.

Other grants may be held with the knowledge and permission of both the grantors and Dumbarton Oaks.

Kleinhans Fellowship $15,000/year for two years

The Fellowship will not subsidize academic tuition and fees, nor will it cover costs of purchasing transport vehicles, or unnecessary or unreasonable equipment.
