Department of Occupational Safety & Environmental Health - Environmental Stewardship Program: http://www.ocs.umich.edu
The Environmental Stewardship Program supports the U-M community through partnership, guidance and education to promote environmental health, safety, protection and enhancement, as well as regulatory compliance. The focus of this program is diverse and includes energy conservation, alternative fuels, sustainable building design, "green" purchasing and the Pollution Prevention Initiative (P2).

The Pollution Prevention Initiative (P2) focuses on source reduction and product substitution as well as reuse and recycling.

Planet Blue is a campus-wide educational and outreach campaign with a mission to actively engage the University of Michigan community to conserve utilities and increase recycling thereby saving money and benefiting the environment.

The University of Michigan Procurement Services is dedicated to supporting sustainable initiatives through leveraging its buying power and supplier partnerships in order to "Make Blue Green." Green Purchasing refers to the acquisition of recycled content products, environmentally preferable products and services, bio-based products, energy and water efficient products, alternate fuel vehicles, products using renewable energy, and alternatives to hazardous or toxic chemicals.

The University Housing Sustainability initiative is comprised of outreach components for residents and staff and an operational component. Its objectives are twofold: to educate Housing members about sustainability and conduct operations in a sustainable manner.

Food Waste Compost Program: http://www.recycle.umich.edu/grounds/recycle/food_composting
The food waste that is collected as part of U-M's food waste compost program is "prep-waste." Prep-waste is vegetative, pre-consumer food waste generated during meal preparation. No plate waste is collected in the program because of the composting method used. Currently, five residence halls participate in the food waste program; Betsey Barbour, East Quadrangle, Markley Hall, South Quadrangle and West Quadrangle. The Pierpont Commons cafeteria and the University Catering Services, located in Pierpont Commons, also participate. The majority of the waste collected by the Waste Management Services staff is transported to the City of Ann Arbor's compost site.

The Recycling Program maintains the current U-M recycling programs, develops new programs and initiatives and educates the campus about waste issues.

Environmental stewardship at the University of Michigan Health System is a commitment to conduct business in an efficient, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective manner. Through education and cooperation with the University of Michigan, and national and local regulatory agencies, the UMHS has become a nationally recognized leader for implementing and continuing to improve upon its environmentally-friendly practices.

The University of Michigan Bass Fishing Team is comprised of approximately 20 University undergraduate and graduate student anglers with a passion for fishing. They participate in annual events including intraclub tournaments, intrastate tournaments (featuring other schools such as Michigan State, Western Michigan, etc), the Big Ten tournement, and the CBAA National Championship.

BLUElab at the University of Michigan is a student-run organization that works toward sustainable solutions to development problems at home and abroad. Toward itsgoal, BLUElab coordinates project teams that develop environmentally, culturally and economically sustainable technologies.

The Environmental Committee actively works towards environmental responsibility and stewardship on the University of Michigan campus. It is involved in local independent campaigns as well as working with the rest of the College Dems on organization wide events and activities.

Cultivating Community is a student program that is a part of the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens. It encourages students to take a leading role in healthy food choices and earth-friendly cultivating techniques. It offers a hands-on experience for students to explore vermicomposting, sustainable gardening and food waste recycling.

The Detroit Partnership is a student-run service learning organization. It is dedicated to uniting Ann Arbor and Detroit by working with schools and community organizations in two Detroit communities: Brightmoor in Northwest Detroit and Southwest Detroit.

The University of Michigan Environmental Law Society serves foremost as a forum for students energized by environmental issues and concerned with how the law may or may not adequately address those issues. ELS also strives to provide first-hand opportunities for those students who see environmental law in their professional futures.

The Erb Institute Student Advisory Board is comprised of two representatives from each of the three classes of Erb students. GrEENPEAS is a graduate student organization affiliated with the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Program at the University of Michigan. The organization was founded in May 1999 with the following goals:
- To promote professional relationships and networking among graduate students, staff, faculty and alumni of the EWRE Program
- To promote and stimulate academic exchange among members of the community sharing an interest in the field of environmental engineering and science
- To provide opportunities for members to serve the EWRE Program, CEE Department, College of Engineering, University and community

Hayerukim:
The goal of Hayerukim (Hebrew for "the greens") is to provide a forum for students to engage in environmental activism from a Jewish perspective. It provides students with the opportunity to work toward creating a more sustainable Hillel, University and world.

The Michigan Animal Rights Society is an organization made up of U-M students, faculty, alumni and local residents. Its goal is to raise awareness about a variety of animal- and environmental-related issues including farmed animals, domestic animal rescue, vegetarianism, animal experimentation and wildlife protection.
