The Rackham Graduate Student Emergency Fund is intended to help meet the financial needs of Rackham graduate students who encounter an emergency situation or one-time, unusual, or unforeseen expenses during their degree program. Situations eligible for funding include such events as:

  • Major accidents and events such as fire and natural disasters
  • Expenses related to the illness or death of an immediate relative

  3. Letter of recommendation of no more than two pages (1,500 words) from either the graduate chair or the department chair of the student's program.

Master's KCP Future Faculty Fellows agree to pursue and obtain a master's degree within four (4) years of receiving this fellowship award. Fellows must either pursue a doctoral degree at a postsecondary educational institution within one (1) year after attaining their master's degree or begin a teaching or administrative career in a 2- or 4-year postsecondary institution and continue this employment for a minimum of three (3) years. Doctoral KCP Future Faculty Fellows agree to pursue and obtain a doctoral degree within eight (8) years of beginning doctoral study. Fellows must begin a teaching or administrative career at a postsecondary educational institution within one (1) year after attaining their doctoral degree, and remain in employment at a postsecondary institution for a period of not less than three (3) years.

The King-Chavez-Parks Future Faculty Fellowship Program is funded by the State of Michigan and is intended to increase the pool of traditionally underrepresented candidates pursuing faculty teaching careers in postsecondary education. The Conservation and Research Foundation funds small grants, typically between $500 and $5000 per proposal. For almost 50 years, the American Institute of Indian Studies has provided funding to pre- and post-doctoral scholars and artists in pursuit of knowledge about India.

  • Junior Fellowships are for graduate students conducting research for their doctoral dissertations in India.
  • Senior Long- and Short-term Fellowships are for those holding the PhD degree. 
  • Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the arts to conduct their projects in India.

Fellows based in Bangalore, Chennai (Madras), Kolkata (Calcutta), Mumbai (Bombay) or New Delhi receive an additional 15 percent cost of living supplement for maintenance, dollar and dependent allowances. Each fellow receives one round-trip air ticket from the city of origin to the primary research site in India. AIIS will also provide air tickets for 1.5 dependents accompanying a Long-term Fellow who is eligible for dependent allowances for 2 dependents. Short-term Fellows are not provided tickets or allowance for dependents.

AIIS Fellows may not hold another major grant during the fellowship period.
