Application Process and Required Materials: 

Each Eco-Program proposal submitted must include the student’s (i) full name, (ii) date of birth, (iii) telephone number, (iv) email address, (v) hometown state and city, (vi) his/her campus address, (vii) the name, city and state of the educational institution attending, (viii) the name, title and telephone number of at least one (1) administration or educational school faculty member (“School Representative”) who will support the student’s commitment to execute his/her Eco-Program proposal within the time and budget outlined (should it be selected) and (ix) Eco-Program proposal (description must be no more than 4,000 characters in length - with spaces), accompanied by an Eco-Program budget (no more than 3,000 characters in length - with spaces) and an Eco-Program timeline (no more than 3,000 characters in length - with spaces), all required submission materials collectively comprising your, “Submission”.  Submissions must be submitted either a) online through the www.filterforgood.com web site using the form provided or b) by mail using typed, double-spaced format, in an envelope with proper postage.

All Grants must be used in connection with initiating and making significant progress towards completing the Eco-Program as set forth in its proposal. Student Grant recipients may be required to provide written or oral status reports, including budget reports and receipts to Program Sponsor to evidence appropriate use of the Grant. Student Grant recipients may additionally be asked to capture and document their work once monthly using video and or camera images and to provide these images to the Program Sponsor and/or Program Administrator upon request. Failure of any Student Grant recipient to provide Program Sponsor and/or Program Administrator with Eco-Program status updates as requested may result in suspension or termination of Grant disbursements, in Program Sponsor’s sole discretion.

 The A. Stanley Rand Endowment was built through many generous donations from Stan’s friends, family members, former students and fellow colleagues at STRI. The endowment will fund short term (3-4 month) fellowships at STRI, with preference given to research areas that were of interest to Stan.

This new fellowship program recognizes Stan’s efforts to foster and promote the careers of young biologists, especially those from Latin America, and his belief in the importance of tropical research. Stanley played a monumental role in mentoring countless young students in evolutionary and ecological studies of the behavior of reptiles and amphibians.

Proposals can be in all areas represented by STRI scientists and research associates, but preference will be given to research focused on animal behavior and natural history, evolutionary biology, plant and animal ecology and environmental monitoring.

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies.

The Foundation accepts applications from countries where it has branches, affiliates or other AKDN agencies which can help with processing applications and interviewing applicants. At present, these are Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Madagascar, France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada.

The application procedures of AKF's International Scholarship Programme are decentralised. Students may obtain application forms as of January 1st each year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards in their countries of current residence. Completed applications should be returned to the agency from which the form was obtained, or to the address indicated on the front of the form. They should not be sent to Geneva. The deadline for submission of applications is March 31, although in certain countries internal deadlines may be earlier.
