The Leifur Eiriksson Foundation, a University of Virginia-related entity, commemorates the 1000th anniversary of the first Icelandic voyage to North America and support international collaborations between Icelandic and U.S. universities. Its scholarships provide support for a year of study for Icelandic graduate students studying in U.S. universities and for U.S. graduate students studying in Icelandic universities.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) Fellowship Program provides U.S. graduate students in science (including NSF-supported social science and interdisciplinary fields) and engineering with an opportunity to spend 8-10 weeks during the summer conducting research at one of the seven host locations in East Asia and Pacific: Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan.

The Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women’s Studies encourages original and significant research about women that crosses disciplinary, regional, or cultural boundaries. Previous Fellows have explored such topics as transnational religious education for Muslim women, the complex gender dynamics of transidentity management, women’s electoral success across racial and institutional contexts, women’s sports, and militarism and the education of American women.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 15 OCTOBER 2013

The Luce Scholars Program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional internships for 18 young Americans to live and work in Asia each year. The program's purpose is to increase awareness of Asia among future leaders in American society. Luce Scholars have backgrounds in virtually every field (other than Asian studies) including medicine, the arts, business, law, science, environmental studies, and journalism.

SNRE is pleased to announce the SNRE Staff Fellowship for Returning Students. This one-time fellowship of $1,000.00 is designed to aid one returning graduate student in his or her professional development to prepare for the transition from full-time student to full-time professional.

This fellowship is available only to returning SNRE graduate students in the Master of Science program, Master of Landscape Architecture program, or a dual-degree master's program.
