To qualify, students must:
- Demonstrate financial need and be eligible for Federal Financial Aid (student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident).
- Meet specific criteria for the scholarships to which they are applying.
- Attend a HACU-member college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico at the time applications are completed and scholarship awards are made.
- Demonstrate eligibility during time of application and when scholarship awards are disbursed.
For nearly 25 years, the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities has helped thousands of college students through its student programs. HACU offers academic scholarships to help students defray college expenses.
Funding is available as follows:
· Research and Internship support in Africa – Up to $3,000
· Conference Travel Grants – Up to $500 domestic and $1,000 international travel to support participation as presenters at conferences
· Support for Campus Events – Up to $1,000 to support Africa-related student events on campus
· Support for the study of African languages not offered at the University of Michigan
