Obama campaign energy policy expert to deliver Carbon Symposium keynote
Ross School of Business and Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise
The Ross Energy Club’s 1st Annual Carbon Symposium will provide educational and professional insights into the emerging importance of carbon in our economy. Graduate students in business, environmental science, public policy, economics and other disciplines will come together to learn from and interact with some of the pioneers of the burgeoning carbon economy.
Delivering the keynote address will be Howard A. Learner, a senior energy and environmental adviser for the Obama campaign.
Attendees to the symposium will gain a greater understanding of the following questions:
• Why is carbon gaining importance in the world economy?
• How is the business community assigning value to it?
• What are the current carbon trading schemes and how do they differ?
• What is the role of public policy in establishing a fair market?
• What will business leaders need to know to stay relevant?
• How can young professionals get involved in this emerging market?
WHO WILL BE THERE:
In addition to students from the University of Michigan’s various graduate programs, Energy Clubs from the Collegiate Energy Association (CEA) partner schools will also be invited including Yale, MIT, Notre Dame, and the University of Wisconsin. Attendance at this event is capped at 225 and is anticipated to run at capacity.
