SNRE Envoys Speaker Series: Michelle Martinez (M.S. '08)

Our next event is next Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in Room 2024, Dana Building. SNRE alumna Michelle Martinez with the Consortium of Hispanic Agencies will discuss her experiences. Please join us for what promises to be another interesting event. Once again refreshments will be served (expect something delicious).

Michelle's Bio:

Michelle Martinez is a 4th and 2nd generation Detroiter and community advocate currently residing in southwest Detroit. In her current position as the Public Policy Associate for the Consortium of Hispanic Agencies, she helps to bring complex issues to the community level, the most recent project through issue-based organizing within the City of Detroit 2013 Elections context. She is also involved in various projects helping to support grassroots leadership in the Latina community through ADELANTE, A Detroit Latino Agenda Network. Her interests root from multi-issue, intersecting movements to empower people of color to address structural inequality through collective decision-making.

She is a graduate of the University of Michigan receiving her M.S. (2008) in Environmental Policy, and B.A. in English Literature and Anthropology (2003). In her free time, she is an avid gardener, loves cooking, and lives with her partner, dog and child.
