Dana Building hosts Planet Blue open house

Planet Blue conducted an open house Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the Dana Building's Ford Commons. The event included displays and information on energy conservation, recycling opportunities and other sustainability oriented efforts across the University of Michigan campus.
T-shirt giveaways took place for students and staff who signed up to be Planet Blue citizens, and water bottles were distributed to those who completed the Planet Blue Quiz/Tip card. A lunch was also offered as were tours of various mechanical rooms within the building.
The Planet Blue Operations Team is a campus-wide educational and outreach campaign with a mission to actively engage the University of Michigan community to conserve utilities and increase recycling thereby saving money and benefiting the environment. Its pperations team is part of the Environmental and Energy Initiative (EEI), an outcome of President Coleman's Environmental Task Force. The EEI is a six-point initiative that seeks to make the campus more sustainable in the wake of rising energy costs, climate change concerns and depleting resources.
