Cardinale, Foufopoulos argue against Senate Bill 78 in Detroit News

SNRE Associate Professors Bradley Cardinale and Johannes Foufopoulos co-authored an op-ed piece that appears in today's Detroit News.

Nature exists for the enjoyment and prosperity of people. Whether for the clean water Michiganians drink, the thousands of jobs supported by our logging and paper mill industries, the recreational and cultural benefits of fishing and hunting or the millions in tourism dollars that benefit our economy, healthy, diverse ecosystems are a vital source of prosperity for our state.

But the ability of Michigan to manage our natural resources sustainably is under attack by a bill now being considered by the House of Representatives in Lansing. Senate Bill 78, sponsored by State Sen. Tom Casperson, R-Escanaba, recently passed the Senate and is headed for a vote in the House.
