Biostation orientation: working, playing together
Members of incoming classes at the School of Natural Resources & Environment are up north through Thursday to learn more about how to succeed in their programs and to meet fellow classmates. The orientation tradition brings together master's students in both two- and three-year programs for a series of seminars and outdoor activities as the start of their SNRE academic careers. About 125 members of the classes gathered first at the Dana Building Tuesday morning, and then boarded buses and formed a caravan making the four-plus-hour trip. They return Thursday afternoon; classes at SNRE and across the University of Michigan begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Among the activities were a team-building exercise that had students.
This year, the orientation features a new twist: students working together on a case study regarding the question of allowing limited hunting of gray wolves in the Upper Peninsula.
