StudGov Ticker: Meeting Notes from 09/25/2012

Editor's Note: The StudGov ticker is a short summary of the weekly StudGov meeting (7 pm Tuesday, 1028 Dana).  The meeting is open to the SNRE community, but for those who are unable to attend, these notes provide a brief synopsis of the meeting.  Posts will be weekly.

Careers Team: Career Week is well underway and funding is nearly secured.

 Still Needed:

  • Publicize CW! Classmates, professors, get up in front of class, whatever it takes!
  • Help to design poster for CW to put in poster stands
  • Send Miguel and Hannah recommendations for people/companies/orgs to reach out to for presentations (KEEP Them Coming)

Alumni Team: Busy recruiting members to the Alumni Gateway, reunion planning, and Career Week.  This week, Alumni will be hosting first Gateway meeting.  Working on memorabilia project, too.

LA Team: Working on pumpkin carving.  Speaking with SALSA to see how we can integrate LA activity with the rest of SNRE.

Communications Team: Elections are in full swing!  We have awesome directors!  We met Friday with Kevin from SNRE Communications; the meeting was productive and we are excited about continuing to improve the blog, specifically by facilitating more posts by the greater SNRE community and filling out the right side of the blog.  We revisited several things that we had already discussed (Twitter, social media, etc.), but are hopeful that we will move forward.  We are especially excited to begin to meet with our directors, and to funnel people to the blog.

Reminders from Communications:

  • Make sure StudGov blog posts get turned in to Emily & Courtney
  • All mass emails go out through StudGov!

Marketing/Social Media Team: Currently working on promotional poster for Career Week.  Ongoing twitter & facebook updating with posts from the blog.  This week, a draft of the CW poster will be done, edited, and perhaps off to printing!

What Betsy needs from StudGov:

  • Keep updating me on cool stuff to post!
  • If you want me to attend an event and tweet, let me know! If you have pictures of an event that you want me to put up on Facebook, let me know!

Academics Team: Working with track leaders to determine strategy on depth of study improvements and on-boarding new director of peer benchmarking!!  This week, Academics is focusing on meeting with remaining track leaders (SS & BEC) and meeting as a team to discuss priorities and gameplan moving forward.

Clubs, Treasury Team: Club Day was fab, but now it’s time to follow-up and wrap up the review document on how the event went.  Working with clubs that were not present to get information so they can go on the Student Working Groups and Clubs handout that will be available in OAP and on the SNRE website.  This week, Ellen is meeting with her new director to get her going with networking with club leaders and getting blog posts up about their events/meetings/initiatives.  Need to work with the communications team to determine blog schedule of these club posts.

Community: Busy interviewing directors, planning first service day (yay!), and meeting to plan SNRE Campfire.  Director decisions will be made on 9/28.  Blog post coming out this week announcing the service day initiative and how to get involved.

What Community Needs from StudGov:

  • Join first service day!  Mark the calendar for 10/6!!  Leading by example!!
