Professors Allan, Perfecto receive U-M faculty recognition awards

Oct. 5, 2010

SNRE Professors Dave Allan and Ivette Perfecto were honored Tuesday (Oct. 5) with university-wide awards for their contributions to research and service. Professor Allan received the 2010 Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award. Professor Perfecto received the 2010 Faculty Recognition Award.

The Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award honors senior University of Michigan faculty who have consistently demonstrated outstanding achievements in the areas of scholarly research and/or creative endeavors; teaching and mentoring of students and junior faculty; service; and a variety of other activities that have brought distinction to themselves and the university.

The 2010 Faculty Recognition Award recognizes faculty in early phases of their careers who have demonstrated substantive contributions to the university through significant achievements in scholarly research and/or creative endeavors; excellence as a teacher, advisor and mentor; and distinguished participation in the service activities of the University. (Eligible candidates include full professors with no more than four years at that rank, associate professors and assistant professors.)

In both cases, their nominations were reviewed by an interdisciplinary selection committee comprised of senior faculty from a range of U-M schools and colleges. Awardees are selected by the Rackham Graduate School Dean Janet A. Weiss, based upon the recommendations of this committee.
