Funding Abstract:
The African Studies Center (ASC) offers support to faculty and students for research, travel, language study, and collaborative projects that enhance the study of Africa, past and present. ASC also provides grants to host conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and performances related to Africa
Application Process and Required Materials:
Application consists of:
- Cover sheet
- Budget
- Information about other sources of support
- Details regarding the proposed project/event (2 page max)
- Students should include an unofficial transcript and letter of support from a faculty advisor.
Fund Usage:
Travel, research, language study, projects, events
Funding Restrictions:
Priority will be given to grant proposals that:
- focus on interdisciplinary research
- seek imaginative solutions to contemporary social, cultural, technological, and environmental problems in Africa
- deepen and expand scholarly projects between U-M and its African partners
