Snodgrass Memorial Research Award
Candidates must be ESA members and must have completed a graduate research thesis or dissertation in either arthropod morphology, systematics, taxonomy, or evolution at a recognized college or university within two calendar years prior to the nomination submission deadline.
This Entomological Foundation award, named after Dr. Robert E. Snodgrass, recognizes outstanding research by graduate students who have completed investigations in selected areas of entomology. Since Dr. Snodgrass was a leader in insect morphology, the award recipient must have completed his/her research thesis or dissertation in related fields of entomology, such as arthropod morphology, systematics, taxonomy, or evolution. This award consists of a certificate and cash award, the amount of which based on the earnings from the investment. The recipient is presented with the award at the ESA Annual Meeting.
Nominations may be made by anyone. Nomination package must include:
- CV (template available on website)
- Letter of nomination
- Letter of application describing eligibility credentials
- Excerts from the student's research thesis or dissertation, along with the approval page signed by a college official or advisor
- Confidential letters of recommendation from two faculty members who can comment critically on the thesis or dissertation
