NRE 501.032 Transportation Energy & Climate Policy

This course will give students a solid understanding of the transportation sector as needed to address energy and climate aspects of public policy; review relevant policies past, present and proposed; examine case studies of key policies; and provide experience with policy analysis techniques pertinent to the subject. Material covered will include: sector characteristics (for personal vehicles, freight and air); energy and emissions data and projections at global, national and state levels; structure and economics of transportation markets (including vehicles, fuels, land use); sector stakeholders and institutions; policy history, current issues and status of key policy options. Students will become equipped to assist, advise and manage the development and implementation of transportation-related energy and climate programs and policies, and prepared to excel as policy analysts, planners, engineers or managers tasked with addressing the subject in industry, government, consultancies and nonprofit organizations.
