Description

Professional practice courses emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to the preservation, conservation and design of urban areas. These courses are designed to fulfill the requirements established by the concentration guidelines under Urban Design and Preservation/ Conservation, as well as to act as one of the key studio courses for students pursuing the Dual Degree Program leading to simultaneous master's degrees in architecture and urban planning, and in urban planning and lanscape architecture. During the first semester, students from architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning work individually and collaboratively on three design problems, such as: urban infill housing; urban space; preservation/conservation of an uban area. In the second semester, students work individually or collaboratively on preservation/conservation, landscape, and architecture design problems in an urban setting of their choosing, or set by the instructors.
