Applicant Eligibility Comments: 

Applicant must be currently enrolled in good standing and carry a full-time course load at the time of application and during the semesters for which the scholarship is granted.

Special restrictions: 

Carville/ Akehurst: Applicant must be a resident of one of the three MANTS member states—Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia.  Attendance at an institution within these states is not mandatory.

Bigelow: Applicant must be a resident of one of the six New England states (although attendance at an institution within these states in not mandatory): Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Funding Abstract: 

The HRI Endowment fund is composed of several scholarship funds that aid students who are seeking a lifelong career in horticulture. HRI and its member firms consider graduating students in horticulture to be the lifeblood of the industry. The individuals and firms who support this endowment are to be commended for their industry leadership.

A student may apply for as many scholarships that he/she meets eligibility requirements for.

Application Process and Required Materials: 

There are 6 components to the scholarship application: the application document, cover letter, resume, 2 letters of recommendation, and the transcript.

All applications must be completed using the HRI online scholarship application. No other form of application will be accepted. The general application, cover letter, resume and copies of transcripts must be uploaded by the student using the online form.

The only information that may be excluded from the online submission process is the letters of recommendation which must be either faxed or emailed to HRI. Mailed copies will no longer be accepted.
