Dissertation Fellowship
The purpose of the Dissertation Fellowship is to offset a scholar's living expenses while she completes her dissertation. The fellowship must be used for the final year of writing the dissertation. Applicants must have completed all coursework, passed all preliminary exams, and had the dissertation research proposal or plan approved by November 15, 2009. The doctoral degree must be completed no earlier than April 1, 2011, and no later than June 30, 2011.

U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, female doctoral candidate, not a member of AAUW, all fields of study except engineering, students holding any fellowship for writing a dissertation in the year prior to the AAUW Educational Foundation fellowship year are not eligible.
The AAUW Educational Foundation American Fellowship stipend must be larger than any other single fellowship or grant received during the year and must be acknowledged as the major award. Acceptance of any concurrent funds of a lesser amount than the Foundation award requires prior approval of the Foundation.
Fellowships DO NOT fund:
Research Assistants, laboratory supplies & equipment, publication costs, tuition for additional coursework, repayment of loans or other personal obligations, extended field research

Application form, narrative autobiography, statement of Project, transcript (1 official and 2 copies), CV, institution Certification form, 3 letters of recommendation, office record form, filing fee.
