Funding Abstract:

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab provides significant logistical support for graduate students whose research or program of study is based at DISL.  This support is facilitated through application and award of  'Graduate Research Status'.  Students with 'Graduate Research Status' may request support ranging from library and housing access and desk space, to support for analytical and field research needs, to the procurement of supplies and equipment and travel to regional and national meetings.

Up to five Teaching Assistantships are offered for each of the summer sessions.  Assistants must not be enrolled in classes during the time they are assisting and are expected to work 20 hours per week.  Duties include assisting with preparation of field and laboratory exercises, instruction of students in the laboratory and some lecturing may be required, and participation in field exercises and specimen identification is expected, as necessary.  Teaching Assistantship positions may be awarded on a course by course basis, by term, or for the entire summer session.
