Ginsberg Student Fellowships
All undergraduate and graduate students at UM are eligible to apply for funds.
The Ginsberg Student Fellowships provide University of Michigan students with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the community in partnership with a community-based organization. The Fellowships provide a stipend to students of up to $2000 (spring/summer or fall/winter fellowship). To help defray the costs of the project, each fellow will also be eligible for up to $250 in program funds (not intended for travel expenses).
*NOT OFFERED IN 2011; WILL LIKELY BE OFFERED IN 2012 STARTING IN JANUARY.*
The Fellowship has a two-step application process. Students must submit a two-page initial proposal form including: student information, title of proposal, community partner information, partnership information, and a proposal (250 words max) outlining proposed project and a statement of motivation.
If students are invited to submit a final application, they must submit: final application form, complete project proposal, resume, and a letter from proposed community partner.
Proposals that do not involve direct community engagement and outcomes will not be considered (i.e., this is not a research fellowship). Recipient must acknowledge the Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning as a supporter of the project and may be asked to present at the Ginsberg National Board meeting or in ongoing training and meetings with other Fellows. Fellows must submit a final report within thirty days of project completion.
Funding support is available for projects during the upcoming Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter terms.
