Aurora Organic Dairy (AOD) is a leading U.S. provider of private-label organic milk and butter, managing over 12,000 milking cows and processing over 84 million liters (22 million gallons) of milk annually. The Phase 1 Master’s Project developed an energy and carbon footprint for the milk life cycle system (from growing the feed to distributing the packaged milk products). Phase 2 focuses on developing a broader set of economic, environmental and social life cycle based indicators to assess the overall sustainability performance of AOD. The indicators will be used to evaluate strategies for enhancing sustainability performance.
