Summary of Project Idea:

The Village of Dexter has just recently removed the dam on Mill Creek which has set in motion a series of unique opportunities for restoring the lands that had been the backwater area behind the dam.

Dexter is also at the nexus of a trail/greenway corridor involving the Metro Parks, the County’s Border to Border Trail, local school outdoor ecology labs, and their own village lands and this project has already involved a variety of groups ranging from the Huron River Watershed Council to a variety of state agencies and environmental consultants.

They would be interested in proposing a masters project that would address design, management, environmental education, economic, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, conservation biology and other issues.
