Liebmann Fund
The Liebmann Fund has announced the 2010-2011 competition. The trust will accept up to three (3) nominations from UM. The fellowship provides a stipend of $18,000, full tuition for fall and winter, and health and dental benefits. The fellowship is renewable for up to two (2) additional years. It is open to students pursuing a graduate degree in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture, or other formal professional training).
Nominees must have an outstanding undergraduate record, demonstrate a need for financial assistance, and be a citizen of the US. The fellowship awards those nominees with outstanding character and ability, who hold promise for achievement and distinction in their chosen fields of study. Those who would be eligible for consideration must carry out their education and research entirely in the US.
The application is quite involved, so applicants should begin the process as soon as possible. The deadline for completed applications to be received at the Rackham Fellowships Office is Thursday, January 7, 2010 The award decisions of the Liebmann Trustees will be announced in May 2010.
Copies of the application and guidelines may be picked up at the Rackham Student Services reception desk. The completed application, with one original and four copies (including official transcripts and recommendations which must be removed from their envelopes, copied and placed in the complete packets as complete sets). One original transcript and copies are acceptable. All applications must be returned to the Rackham Fellowships Office for final approval and for the Rackham Dean's letter of recommendation.
