FREE SCREENING: The Last Mountain

On Wednesday November 16th at 8pm, FVSA and REACT to FILM are having a screening of the documentary THE LAST MOUNTAIN, which will be held in MLB Auditorium 1.  In addition to this free screening, there will be a Live Stream Q&A with the director following the screening.  Below is a synopsis of the film:

1000 Pitches has now begun. 1000 Pitches is an annual entrepreneurial business pitch competition held by MPowered Entrepreneurship with the goal of driving the spirit of creativity and innovation on our campus. To enter, students submit 30-second to 3-minute long videos discussing their ideas in any of nine categories:

Health,
Small Business,

MProvements (Improvements to the University of Michigan),

Campus Safety Presentation with DPS

Friday, October 28, 2011, 12:00-1:00pm

During the month of July, several assaults occurred near the campus. University leaders and officials from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Ann Arbor Police are urging faculty, staff, students, and the community to be vigilant. Join in on an informative session to learn more about tips on how to stay safe on campus and more about the work of the Department of Public Safety.  Co-sponsored with Rackham Student Government.  Lunch will be provided.

Aung San Suu Kyi, a Burmese human rights activist and Nobel Peace laureate, is the recipient of the 21st University of Michigan Wallenberg Medal.

 In a rare public address overseas, Suu Kyi will give her videotaped Wallenberg Lecture at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 25 before an audience in Rackham Auditorium.

 

The lecture will be followed immediately by a live Q&A session with Suu Kyi in Burma.

The Center for European Studies announces an interdisciplinary not-for-credit workshop for advanced graduate students working on issues relevant to Europe and the European Union.

 

ELIGIBILITY:
This workshop is open to advanced graduate students with interests in European studies. Graduate students from across disciplines are invited to apply.

Greetings,

As students of natural resources, you are by now painfully aware of the difficulty of restoring natural areas and restoring our ecosystems.  Our white-tail deer population is just one of the problems.

The Ann Arbor Chapter of Wild Ones (founded by Bob Grese) is part of a national organization devoted to promoting native plants and natural landscaping.  Our next meeting (free and open to the public) is on Wednesday,  Oct 12,  Randy Baker will be presenting:

The Ann Arbor Ecology Center and the Michigan Network for Children's Environmental Health are planning an Advocacy Day up in Lansing October 18. I know my fellow SNREds are an active group, and wanted to invite people to join in if they are interested.
