Aquatic Entomology

Course Description:

Provides thorough taxonomic knowledge and basic understanding of the biology and ecology of aquatic insects for advanced students in ecology, fisheries, and entomology. Lectures focus on ecology; laboratories concentrate on taxonomy. A student insect collection is required. (need to confirm with Mike)

Sustainable Systems in Developing Countries

Course Description:

The world is flat. As David Held, a British scholar in political science, once said, globalization is the í¢â‚¬Å“widening, deepening and speeding up of worldwide interconnectedness in all aspects of contemporary social life.í¢â‚¬  The same is true for sustainability. Yet the information on sustainability in developing countries is often not well received in the developed world.

Constructed Wetlands

NRE 501.022/023 (lab section)

Meets: Tu 7-10PM

 

Course Description:

In this course, you will develop a basic understanding of constructed wetland components and functions.  You will learn how wetlands are dependent on, and affected by, the regional context around them.  With this knowledge the class will discuss how wetlands may be constructed to reduce contamination from urban runoff and function in much the same way as a local natural system.
