COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this course we will cover from the basic concepts in ecology that apply to forests to the challenges that forests face due to global change (climate change, landscape fragmentation, invasions). We will study the ecological mechanisms behind individuals, populations, communities and whole ecosystems together with the dynamic processes associated to forests (succession, disturbances). We will also review the role and impact of humans on these communities.
SNRE students have access to opportunities across the U-M campus. This page identifies courses and course search engines spanning several sustainable systems themes. Themes include: Mobility/Transportation, Energy, Built Environment, Food, Water, Climate Change http://www.snre.umich.edu/node/7746
