Recycle Here!
Lauren Cooper furthered development of Recycle Here!'s existing Detroit Public School Education program. To achieve this, she identified new partners and established relationships with various organizations. This included establishment of an internship program with Wayne State University's College of Education. New revenue sources were identified and pursued, including grant writing and seeking of foundation support. Language and imagery was developed for the educational component, now called Green Living Science. Lauren also wrote a business plan and projected expenditures and revenue stream for the next two fiscal years. Further, curriculum for the school programming was refined through partnerships with education professionals and various stakeholder meetings. In this position, Ms. Cooper learned about leveraging public and private partnerships, curriculum development, grant writing, and nonprofit management. Personally, she gained skills in project management, leadership roles, and in negotiations.
