Raoul Wallenberg International Summer Travel Fellowship
Graduate and graduate/professional students must be in good standing academically, pursuing a degree full-time, and enrolled for at least one semester following return to the U.S.
In the spirit of Raoul Wallenberg's experience at Michigan, the Wallenberg International Summer Travel Fellowship will allow selected students to take part in a community service project or civic participation anywhere in the world. The fellowship will support such experiences as, for instance, volunteer work with a humanitarian organization such as a school, clinic, or aid program, or the exploration of humanitarian issues not well understood in the United States.
Several fellowships will be made for summer 2011, each in the amount of up to $5,000 to cover transportation, room and board, and local excursions made in connection with the project.
For 2011, inspired by the dedication of the 2010 Wallenberg medalist Dr. Denis Mukwege, preference will be given to proposals concerned with health systems facing crises, especially those related to gender, reproductive and human rights.

Fellows are also expected to take part in the annual Wallenberg Lecture and outreach activities in the year following their fellowship.
