The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
Nayiri Haroutunian worked under the direction of Josie Elbert, Associate Director of Education Programs, to audit tree-related curricula found in museums, universities and other organizations throughout the city as requested by former Mayor Daley in his Chicago Urban Forest Agenda 2009. This information was then compared with Chicago Public Schools' scope and sequence to determine appropriate available programming for each academic grade to use as a resource. She also prepared resources for and engaged in teacher professional development workshops run by the Teaching Academy and funded by Chicago Wilderness. Lastly, she conducted environmental education evaluations on two summer camp programs offered by the Nature Museum in regards to behavior change as a result of participating in the programs.
