World Resources Institute
Lilly Connett spent her summer working in the Markets and Enterprise Program (MEP) of the World Resource Institute (WRI). The focus of her summer internship was examining the topic of how best to leverage increased private investments in low carbon technologies. She participated in the framing and organizing of a high level meeting to examine the question of how US public spending could maximize private capital investments in climate friendly and climate resilient projects. This meeting convened top officials from US government organizations (US Treasury, US Department of State, US Export-Import Bank) and top private financial institutions. Lilly's work on this project included drafting of background materials for the event and participating in pre-event scoping meetings with the WRI executive team and high level US government officials. For a related project on the same topic, she contributed to the research and initial drafting of a WRI paper examining the role of multi-lateral and bi-lateral development institutions in leveraging private capital investments in low carbon technologies in developing countries. Lastly, Lilly was also given the opportunity to work with WRI's Aquaduct team which works to make information about water risk easily available and comprehendible to corporations, governments and the public.
