SNREd Elections: Vote for your First Year StudGov Reps!
Hey SNREds!
It’s time to vote. Yes, that’s right, voting has arrived for the 2012-2013 First Year Student Government Representatives. This year, we have four amazing candidates, whose statements are listed below.
You can access voting by following this link: https://docs.google.com/a/umich.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dHg2OHVGSEFBSVo0TjloNi1CNEhoS1E6MQ
Friendly StudGov reminders:
Polls close at 5 pm this Friday, September 28, 2012.
Voting is open to registered SNRE students only. Ballots that do not include a valid UM ID number for an SNRE student will not be counted.
Please review the statements of our (awesome!) four candidates for First Year Representatives before making up to two selections. Ballots with more than two selections will not be counted.
Happy voting!
StudGov
And your candidates are (drum roll, please!)”¦
Rose Buss:
Rose is in the EPP track and is one of the red heads running around in the Dana building. You may have talked to her while she was attempting to fill her orientation bingo card or when she was desperately trying to get rid of the cookies she baked. She knows it's hard sometimes to pull yourself out of studying in Dana to give your take on what should change and that's why she wants to be your First Year Rep: to pass your ideas forward and be a voice for all of the great first-years in our cohort. Rose is excited to help the first-year SNERds be heard and to talk to as many of you as possible during the year.
Parker Anderson:
Aloha! I am a first-year SNREd in Sustainable Systems and Landscape Architecture. I hail from the state of Hawaii by way of Santa Barbara, CA. I enjoy fresh food, tailgating (Go Blue!), beekeeping, nature, mug clubs, bicycle awareness, camping, and any “excuse” to have a good time. I am a positive and thoughtful person, a diligent organizer, a careful listener, and a social chameleon.
What I bring to Student Government?
I bring a varied real world experience along with a passion to make a positive impact. I am a creative and skilled organizer, able to develop, implement, and propagate good times. I have an interest in your happiness and well-being and plan to contribute a strong representation of our collective voice to the student government.
What is my platform in Student Government?
- Building community (amongst SNREds, other students, faculty, alumni, the university, and the outside community)
- Creating a fun atmosphere (SNREds work hard, and play hard)
- Encouraging sustainable delicious food (and providing opportunities to get more of it)
- Keeping SNREds healthy (both mentally and physically)
- Connecting the school with nature (excuses to get out of Dana)
- Providing SNREds with opportunities to succeed (in school and in the real world)
- Staying warm in the winter (this may be my top priority)
- Making it clear that SNRE is the top environmental school in the country
Ima Otudor:
So I'm new to this student government thing but, it sounds like it'll be a supercalifragilisticexpialidcious [<-- probably spelled wrong, used wrong, and just generally too much huh? :D] opportunity to have. Being a 1st Year Representative would help me gain valuable insight on the total SNRE experience. I would love to be able to say that I helped SNRE Student Government with projects that catered to the needs of the student body. I'd like the opportunity to collaborate with other StudGov members in figuring out how to best represent the 1st year cohort, and ultimately, all members of the School of Natural Resources and Environment. Also, in addition to my naivety, I'll bring my optimism, stick-to-it-ive-ness, and willingness to learn in hopes that at least a few things will get accomplished!
Margaret Lee:
Margaret Lee is writing this in the third person to pretend she's got a modicum of respectability. She is a first year master's student in the Conservation Ecology track and is from Los Angeles and is way into tacos. Her qualifications for being First Year Representative are: 1) she loves the entire SNRE community (well...mostly) and 2) wants to represent all of your concerns, academic or social. Oh, and she's been a major part of student government before as Yearbook Chair, Secretary and lastly President of the Early Entrance Program Club and had a real fun time, so please consider letting her do it again.
