Undergraduate degree: Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Geography, 2012
Age: 23
Prior to SNRE: I earned a one-year master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh, writing my thesis on a GIS-Environmental Justice analysis of air quality in the city of Valencia, Spain. Then I received a Fulbright Scholarship to come to University of Michigan to study Environmental Justice.
Why Environmental Justice?: The University of Michigan is a global reference on Environmental Justice with some of the most influential figures in the field as faculty members. I came here to understand how Environmental Justice is being done in the U.S. and see how it can be applied in a European context.
The best part of SNRE so far: I like how people from a lot of different backgrounds can come to have a common interest in improving the conditions of those who are disproportionately affected by environmental deprivations. The environment in the school is great; everyone is open to help you develop your projects or ideas, no matter how crazy or ambitious they are!
“SNREdiest” thing he’s done: During orientation some students and I created a Facebook group where all first-year students can discuss both academic and social topics. It's been a success, with 145 students currently using the page as the main source of communication among SNREds.
After graduation: I would like to work for a governmental institution or an Environmental Justice organization in Europe or here in the United States.
