Field Methods in Fluvial Ecosystems
Description:
This course introduces field methods and measurements relevant to ecological research and applied management of fluvial ecosystems. Hydrology, geomorphology and biology are treated in weekly exercises that teach basic concepts, methods of measurement, and the analysis and synthesis of data. Course structure follows an independent learning format requiring that students complete substantial pre- and post- work for each weekly exercise. In addition to time spend in the field, students will need to complete reading assignments in advance of each weekly exercise and perform data analysis after completing each exercise.
