Louis Agassiz Fuertes Award
Any nationality or citizenship; membership in Wilson Ornithological Society is encouraged but not required.
The Wilson Society, founded in 1888, is a world-wide organization of nearly 2500 people who share a curiosity about birds. Fundamental to its mission, the Society has distinguished itself with a long tradition of promoting a strong working relationship among all who study birds. Each year the Wilson Society awards a number of small grants for ornithological research.
The Louis Agassiz Fuertes Award is the Wilson Society's most prestigious award and is available to all ornithologists, although graduate students and young professionals are preferred. Any avian research is eligible.
A complete application consists of :
- Application form
- Proposal, including abstract, introduction, methods, budget, and literature cited
- Curriculum vitae
- Two letters of recommendation
Electronic submission is strongly encouraged.
Any ornithological research, to be used for equipment, supplies, travel, living expenses. WOS does not pay overhead or other indirect costs over and above the award amount.

Two awards are given annually.
