Funding Abstract: 

The goal of the all TREE Fund Grant Programs is to provide support for research and technology transfer projects that are in keeping with the TREE Fund mission and priorities,and address topics that have the potential of benefiting the everyday work of arborists. Hyland R. Johns Grants are for amounts in excess of $7,500 up to $25,000, for research projects of two to five years in duration.

Proposals in these priority areas are more likely to be funded, but all proposals will be considered.

Application Process and Required Materials: 

There is no minimum or maximum length of proposals, but 5-6 pages is recommended (8.5"x11", 10 pt. type minimum). All proposals must include the following information:
1. Project title
2. Investigator (contact information and qualifications)
3. Executive Summary (very important - due to the large number of proposals received, initial screening of proposals may be based on this alone) - New this year
4. Statement of problem and objectives of project
5. Brief description of what is currently known about proposed project area (use citations where appropriate)
6. Project plan
7. Budget (itemized budget for project, minimum funding requested, funds received and pending from other sources). Grant funds cannot be used to pay overhead expenses.
8. Project schedule (starting and completion dates)
9. Relevant citations by investigator
10. Significance of proposed project to arboriculture and/or urban forestry
Submit a typed original and nine unbound copies.
