Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Program (IARO)
U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Master's and Predoctoral students must be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program, may not be a current IREX employee or consultant or their immediate family members
The Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Program (IARO) provides students, scholars and professionals with support to perform policy relevant field research in the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. In addition to engaging in research in the region, the IARO fellowship gives scholars the opportunity to increase their understanding of critical, policy relevant issues, develop and sustain international networks, and collaborate with foreign scholars on topics vital to both the academic and policy-making communities.
A complete application should include (submitted in this order, with each copy collated):
- Completed application form
- Grant proposal
- Curriculum Vitae
- Transcripts (if required)
- Professional/Academic Reference
- One language proficiency report for each language.
Hard copy via mail: Submit the original along with three stapled copies (four applications total for IREX and remember to make a copy for your own files) of the completed application, and all supplementary materials.
