Stewart is responsible for overall strategic planning of the development office. She manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a select group of alumni and donors. Stewart works closely with the School's Visiting Committee to identify key funding priorities, promote opportunities for private and corporate support and strengthen strategic partnerships. She also plans and executes fundraising-related events in areas of regional impact for the School.

Stewart is a UM alumnus (BA '86) with a double major in philosophy and economics, as well as a varsity letter winner in cross country. Prior to moving to the School of Natural Resources & Environment, she was a Major Gift Officer for the UM Department of Surgery and Director of Development for Habitat for Humanity. Currently Stewart is finishing a Master's degree in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis with a thesis on moral development theory and philanthropic action.
