Five students from the School of Natural Resources and Environment are advancing as finalists to the next stage in the Presidential Management Fellows Program, a prestigious federal initiative that identifies future leaders.
The five SNRE students represent one-third of the 15 finalists selected from the University of Michigan. The SNRE students are: Michelle Aldridge, Heather Gott, Sarah Levy, Alicia Lindauer-Thompson and Lauren Pidot.
"We are extremely proud of Michelle, Heather, Sarah, Alicia and Lauren," said Rosina M. Bierbaum, professor and dean of the School of Natural Resources and Environment. "This recognition is well deserved and illustrates the high caliber of all SNRE students."
The Presidential Management Fellows Program is a competitive program designed to attract into federal service outstanding master's and doctoral students from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths. The students/applicants have expressed a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs.
The SNRE students and others now are invited to attend a Presidential Management Job Fair in Washington, D.C., April 22-24, in order to interview with federal agencies for two-year rotational appointments. At the end of their fellowship, Presidential Management Fellows may be converted to full-time positions.
